I Ball vs. Speed Kills

DIVISION 1

Speed Kills took the court to battle it out with a rookie team to the IBL, iBall . iBall had their way all game, just bullying Speed Kills, however SK  did not back down and put up a fight and trimmed a big first half lead to 14 points.  El-Asar led the way for his team as he recorded 14 points and 1 rebound while Dimon finished with 12 points and 2 boards going 2-5 from beyond the arc.

Steven Sanchez went to work in the 2nd half and he finished with 13 points, 2 three-pointers. Wilson Fiallos knocked down 2 three-pointers and finished with 11 points.  iBall won the game 38-52 to open their season with a victory and are now 1-0.

STAT vs. Fly Society
DIVISION 1

The game came down to the wire as STAT managed to clamp down on Fly Society late in the 4th quarter, playing without starting guard Jairo Lopez, Fly Society opened up their season with a lost for the third season in a row , 46-45.

STAT GM Nathan Apolonio made sure big man Danny Longmire and their latest free agent acquisition Anthony Fitzpatrick would be in the line-up for this crucial rivalry game.  Anthony Fitzpatrick led STAT with 13 points, 13 rebounds.  Robel Kevorkian knocked down 4 three-pointers and he was the second leading scorer with 12 points.  Danny Longmire was really the story for STAT as he nailed the game winning 3 pointer, just a couple of plays after he got his lay-up attempt stuffed by Fly Society’s big man Ralph Chavez.

“You guys barely lost without Jairo, what would have happened if Jairo showed up?,” asked a league official.

“Wouldn’t have been close, that’s not even a question. They won by 1 but we blew them out when we played them. We won by 2” responded the Fly Society’s GM (Desean Collins).

Missed free throws were the biggest problem for Fly Society as the went 5-18 from the free throw line. Jaime Villalobos was 1-for-4 from the line  and he finished with a double-double, 14 points, 14 rebounds. Although Fly Society seemed to have dominated the boards , they lost the rebounding battle 39-32 as Ralph Chavez grabbed 9 rebounds and he finished with 14 points. GM Desean Collins  (Fly Society) rounded out the scoring load for FS and finished with 10 points.

So with Week 1 out the way, Both teams look poised to at least manage a playoff berth, a playoff match-up in the 1st or second round seems very likely.
