IBL | Season 6 | Week 3 Recap | Division 2

2011 Fall, SEASON 6

Week 3

by Nathan Apolonio/ @NDAx92

Their isn’t much to say about the division, Wonton Soup remains at the top as usual. While Quiksilver and The Revenge sit in second place at 3-0. Every other team is jockeying for position as the season goes on. Sure we can make an argument, that The Revenge has played weak competition and shouldn’t be in the top 3..but I won’t go there…wait I just did. Quiksilver is the only viable contender I’ve seen so far that’s capable of competing with the restocked Wonton Soup team. All of these other teams are a bunch of noise…all bark no bite, hence the Double Dribble vs. Goonz game, the Goonz looked as if they could compete with their sleeves and high socks and fancy shirts, but when it came down to it, even their week trapping defense couldn’t stop the Pickett Bros. At the bottom of the division teams that aren’t well established are just jockeying for a spot to try to compete. Who knows what Week 4 holds…till then… #StayThirstyMyFriends

Avant Foster (12 points, 5 rebounds), Odis Wishum (12 points, 5 rebounds) were the top 2 performers for the Goonz. Marcus Dillard rounded out the scoring load with 6 points, Dillard could have increased his scoring output but a terrible performance at the free throw line, led to this 6 point performance.

Secret Agents vs. Quiksilver

DIVISION 2

Just when the Secret agents felt they had their swagger and were poised to run the eastern conference, the conferences merged together and after their Week 1 beat down of the Warriors, they’ve run into the élite talent of the division. In Week 2 it was Double Dribble and in Week 3 they ran into the hungry Quiksilver team. This match-up seen Quiksilver come out with a 47-59 win.

Since last seasons playoffs Quiksilvers big man Harry Yoo has played his best basketball. Through 3 games Yoo is averaging (18.0 ppg and 8.3 rpg) in this week 3 game Yoo led all scorers  with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Brandon Kinard was the second leading scorer with 13 points, 5 rebounds, Kinard also dished out 5 assists. The Wet Bandits is arguably one of the best 1-2 teams in the Division. They have a top 10 big man in Brandon Parham (16.0 ppg, 11.3 rpg) With that said, they took on the #JETS who recorded their first win in Week 2, the Bandits and the #JETS battled it out with the Bandits coming out on top 56 – 47.

UKnow vs. X-Men

DIVISION 2

With the return of last season’s leading scorer Anthony Cockrell and the arrival of Jordan Block, things seemed to be a wrap for UKnow but it was all but a “wrap” in their Week 3 match-up with the X-Men. Cockrell wasn’t really feeling his offensive game too much and sat out the majority of the game, but behind the spark of Justin Nguyen and Jordan Blocks QUIET 30 points , they find a way to defeat the X-Men, 68 – 61.

The X-Men were led by Darren B who finished the game with 28 points and 8. Deante Smith finished 13 points, 5 rebounds. Oscar Pacheco and Charles Dmares rounded out the scoring trio with 6 points and 1 rebound apiece.

Jordan Block scored 30 points and 13 rebounds for UKnow. Jonathan Redmond assisted Block with the scoring load and finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds.  Justin Nguyen rounded out the scoring trio with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Cali Raisins vs. Wonton Soup

DIVISION 2

With their fresh threads on the Cali Raisins fall to the defending champions Wonton Soup, 62 – 73. The margin of victory comes as a shock, because two of Wonton Soups offensive weapons (Jaime Villalobos and Desean Collins) weren’t in attendance for the game.

The Raisins were led in scoring by Dominic “Tiger Blood” Cortes he finished with a team high 28 points and 4 rebounds. Kwasi Mensah was the second leading scorer with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Kevin Tung and Matt Virata rounded out the top 4 scorers with 9 points apiece.

Wonton Soup was led by the “Jose Consecoesk effort” of Aaron “The Juice ” Sanchez, all kidding aside Sanchez finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Trevor Sankey was the second leading scorer with 15 points, and 6 rebounds. Jamie Johnson rounded out the top 3 scorers with 10 points.

Nut Crackers vs. Wonton Soup

DIVISION 2

In one of the final games of the evening Wonton Soup took care of the Nut Crackers handedly defeating them 62 – 83.

My comments at the top, were just good old fashioned ribbing, if you were offended by it, too bad life goes on.
