IBL | Season 6 | Week 6 Recap | Division 1

2011 Fall, SEASON 6
Week 6
By: Nathan Apolonio/ @NDAx92

I’ve been virtually quiet the past week or so, but I can not hold this in any longer. There is a team that I’d like to pick a bone with, namely the West Coast Pros. They’re a talented bunch, and play the game with tremendous passion, don’t get me wrong. However the past couple of weeks they’ve fallen victim to the “late” rule. For those of you not familiar with the rule:  The “late” rule constitutes that  each minute your team is not on the court after the scheduled game time, that the other team be awarded a point. So in Week 5 and 6 the West Coast Pros. showed up late to their game and mind you with only 4 players. (which is legal to start the game) They then try to come back from the early deficit but lose their composure on “calls” late in the game which ultimately cost them the game, and then their team GM leaves the gym saying the refs are “weak” or anything else of that nature. Also after their first few loses this season they had their disgruntled “coach” on the league page complaining about the league referee’s what he would do, if he was reffing in the league, because he is an “all-star ref” mind you. The complaints never ensued after a win, only after losses. I’ve noticed this trend , so I’m calling them out on it.  Somehow this team feels that “the league, or the refs, or anyone or anything else, is always out to get them”. Just Play Basketball!!
