Power Rankings | Week 4

#1 Do Work

Do Work  took care of business over a shorthanded Knicee team in Week 4. They were clicking on all cylinders and look poised to run the table until playoff time.

#2 Dynasty

Dynasty embarrassed a Dictators team who looked as if they would be a perennial powerhouse in the division in Week 4. Dynasty can pretty much beat any team with a full roster. Dewayne O’Neal is a force in the paint and with the agility of Derrick Pickett guards have a hard time defending this team.

#3 Primetime

Troy Allen! How can anyone stop this young man? He had an amazing game in Week 4 helping his team defeat STAT and garnered the POTW honors with his 34 point outburst. Aside from Allen the team has a guard tandem of Manny Rodriguez and Yung Dang who had their best game by far in Week 4 combining for 22 points with the majority of their points coming from behind the 3 point line.  This team is now riding a 2 game win streak and seem in a zone to secure a playoff spot.

#4 Fly Society

After an 0-2 start this team is back on track by winning their last 2 games. They handled A-Team with a short roster and managed to squeak out a win over the short-handed Blu Dream. They almost blew the game to the Blu Dream though. They were up the majority of the first half and played lethargic in the second half and left the door open for the Blu Dream to walk in…however they were fortunate enough that the Blu Dream did not capitalize on the opportunity.

#5 Knicee

It is amazing that this team is 2-2 they could easily be 3-1…1-3 or even 0-4. Their problem as a team is personnel. This team is really deep depending on who shows up to the games. In week 4 they had 4 players play against the defending champs…whomp! EPIC FAIL! This team better get it together in these upcoming or they may see their playoff dreams fade.

#6 STAT

I can see that this team has internal issues. They’ve only had one good offensive game as a group. This team alternates win’s and losses with the weeks. If the can ever get their big men to finish around the basket it would free up their perimeter players for wide open shots.

#7 Dictators

Apart from their blowout win over HIDP this team has been pretty average against teams that can match-up with them. They were outplayed in week 4 by Dynasty who just wanted the game more. Frustration set in for this team and that was all she wrote.

#8 Blu Dream

The Blu Dream is a very confusing team, at times I see spurts of greatness, I see a team that’s ready to take that big step into the divisions élite. However at times I see a team that doesn’t belong in the top 5 conversation.  They almost managed to steal a game away from Fly Society in Week 4 as they came up just short as a game winning 3 pointer from Deebo was shot just a tad bit long.  If their week 1 loss to Speed Kills was an indication of how this season is going to be, then the Blu Dream should be ready for a very long season.

#9 Speed Kills

Speed Kills pushed their record to 2-2 after their week 4 victory over HIDP.  Most people including me thought this team would be 1-3 or even 0-4 at this point in the season. However an opening week 43-42 victory over Blu Dream and a Week 4 Blowout win over Hard in da Paint has this team in a 6 way tie for 3rd place in the division and right in the playoff hunt.

#10 A-Team

BYE WEEK

#11 Hard in da Paint

Can Hard in da Paint get a W?! They have a unit that has been together for 4 seasons and their most successful season was Season 2 and even that season they didn’t make the playoffs. I say GM Domo Criss rebuild soon or they can just cement themselves in the 11th spot of the rankings. If at anytime they were poised to get a win this season it was in week 4 where they were blown out by Speed Kills.

#1 California Raisins

Cali Raisins vs. Beyond the Arch did not live up to its perceived “hype”. From tip-off Cali Raisins dominated the basketball game, they completely controlled every aspect of the game. They are the best/hottest team in the  division.

#2 Regulators

The Regulators are the hottest up n coming team in the division. They took out the defending champs in week 4 and like the Cali Raisins have a list of teams they’d like to play. This team is athletic and full of energy. Teams shouldn’t sleep on the regulators however as hot as they are I think they have many flaws and are beatable.

#
3 Smash Bros.

After their Week 2 loss to Southstars the Smash Bros. have made some significant roster moves by bringing in Julius and Corey and have since been unbeatable. They have the ability to get under the skin of their opponents with their skillful tactics on the court. In Week 4 they won both games of their double-header to push their record to 3-1. In Week 5 I would really enjoy a Cali Raisins Smash Bros. matchup.

#4 Wonton Soup

2 Words…. REALLY DISAPPOINTING! It seemed that this squad had finally gotten things together and were poised to make another run at a Division Championship. That wasn’t the case however as they were completely dominated in Week 4 by the Regulators. This team must get it together if it wants any shot at defending its title. The season is still young but come on fellas play like Champions.

#5 Double Dribble

2-2? This is the same Double Dribble team that went 9-0 a season a go before bowing out to the Flying Squirrels in the Championship game.  They’ve added two players in Geo V. and Diahnte Pickett that filled the offensive void of letting Hassan Ahmed go, however something is just not clicking with this team, They’ve already lost 1 more game than they did all of last season.  GET IT TOGETHER.

#6 Lights Out

Jimmy Nguyen did not have to have an all-star type performance in Week 4 as he did in Week 3 but Eric A. managed to pick up the slack for lights out and guided them to another victory. The scoring is very balanced this season with this team and they can really shoot the basketball, look for this team to start playing teams in the top 12 in the upcoming weeks.

#7 Quiksilver

Quiksilver rebounded from a terrible shooting performance in Week 3 to put a hurting on the Benchwarmers & Tropics in their double-header in Week 3 the team is playing swell at this point in time everyone has a role and plays it very well, aside from the scheduling gods giving them 2 easy W’s this team has yet to impress me.

#8 Thunder

The Thunder squeezed out a win over the Southstars in Week 4 behind Chris Johns and Xavier Goss. This team was riding a 2 game losing streak after their 111 point out burst in Week 1. It’s good to see this team get a W, hopefully they can build on this new-found momentum.

#9 Beyond the Arch

As I’ve said the past couple weeks, although BTA was winning games the quality in the wins just wasn’t their, in their week 3 match up with the Cali Raisins it showed what I had already known, if you live by the 3 point shot you die by the 3 point shot. For weeks this team was shooting the lights out while playing lesser opponents, they were shut down in Week 3 and suffered a 19 point loss.

#10 Hoop Dreams

Hoop Dreams pushed their record to 3-1 in Week 4 by defeating the very small line up of Cashing Fat Bowls. In the process of recording the W they allowed a CFB squad that’s not known for their scoring ability to score 56 points. If this team wants to keep up their winning ways I suggest they play some defense.

#11 Bulls

The Bulls edged out a close one while playing Double Dribble in Week 3 in the first game of their double-header but in their second game while playing the Smash Bros. they let their emotions get the best of them in that game and after a couple technical fouls the game was pretty much decided as the Smash Bros. collected all the momentum.

#12 Soak City

Soak City had a great Week 3 as they defeated 3 Point Layups 62-53. As great as the margin of victory was, the game wasn’t decided until the final minutes. Soak City has a great squad and a clutch go to player in Vince P. in week 5 they look to capitalize on their winning ways and go a game above .500 and make a mid-season playoff run, with a number of teams tied at 2-2 every game is crucial.

#13 Southstars

After good play in Week 1 & 2 the Southstars have come back after a couple of byes and played lethargic in their Week 3 loss to the Benchwarmers and their most recent loss to the Thunder in Week 4. The talent is their for this team they just have to capitalize.

#14 3 Point Layups

#15 Benchwarmers

The Benchwarmers played pretty much acted as if it was a scrimmage game when they played Quiksilver in Week 4 they got blown out by 22 points and the game was not close at all. GET IT TOGETHER!

#16H.A.M

BYE WEEK

#17 Tropics

The Tropics played a good game in Week 4 while playing Quiksilver but they just had no answer for John Dang. Their 2 game win streak ended and they look to start a new streak in week 5.

#18 Warriors

#19 Nothin But Nets

After a 0-3 start Nothin But Nets recorded their first victory over the Prospectz in Week 4.

#20 Prospectz

The Prospectz have been 0-3 since Week 1 & it does not look good for this team, a lot of isolation and bad shots are taken. It is absolutely ridiculous. The bright spots for this team are the rebounding of Joel Torres and Nathan Apolonio.

#21 MLK Riders

#22 Uptown Fades

Uptown Fades recorded another L after Lights Out shot the Lights Out in Week 4. Spencer Stueve needs another 38 point performance for this team to even get close to a W.

#23 Cashing Fat Bowls

AGAIN! I REPEAT Offense is nonexistent for this team, if they could find a way to score the basketball games would be some what close, their defense isn’t the best but they a small and quick and can keep up with the perimeter players, it’s the post play that kills these guys.

#24 5 Guys 1 Cup

5 Guys 1 Cup has seen their names falling in the rankings for weeks now, they’ve yet to record a win but continue to shoot the basketball well during games, they were blessed with a POTW performance by Dylan Liebelt but failed to record the W. Lets see what Week 5 brings.
