Divison 1 & 2 Championship Weekend Preview

After 9 weeks of blowouts, heartbreaks, comebacks and teams going through turmoil, we have the 4 teams who will be playing for their respective Division Championship. Each team took different routes to get to the finals.

DIVISION 1

vs.

Do Work and Primetime  find themselves in the finals in their first IBL season, both teams took different paths to this point but nonetheless they got here.

#3 Do Work recorded an opening round victory over Like Water to advance to the Semi-Finals where they met a young FoHi Crew squad. Do Work then went on to defeat FoHi Crew advancing to this point the championship game.

Do Work is led by Kenneth Ubom on the offensive end who is averaging 22.5 ppg. he is followed by Drake Walker who chips in 12.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg.  They are a very defensive minded group of men who play very well together.  They usually have a height advantage over opposing teams but that is not the case in this match-up.

#5 Primetime is led by Troy who averages 24.2 ppg  and10.8 rpg , Mark Davison (15.0 ppg 11.8 rpg.), & Rashad Martin (13.6 ppg 6.8 ppg)  who all split the scoring load.  Primetime goes if  Troy goes, don’t under-estimate them however they recorded their quarterfinal win over Foreal without Troy and Mark when they overcame a 16 point deficit to advance to the Semi-Finals where they defeated the defending champions Morningwood a team that had blown them out by 27 points just two weeks earlier.

The two teams squared off a few weeks ago with Primetime coming out with a 14 point win 65-51. Offensively Do Work cannot match-up with Primetime as they have countless options, defensively Do Work holds the advantage over Primetime.

Primetime is poised to run the table and take this game as they are locked in and playing their best basketball of the season.

DIVISION 2

Vs.

This Championship game features the two hottest teams in the IBL both teams have win streaks on the line, Double Dribble is 9-0 with 8 victories coming by 10 or more points. The Flying Squirrels are 9-1 with their only loss coming in Week 2 to the Smash Bros. a loss in which the Squirrels avenged this past Sunday.

Both of these teams are unique in their own way. Double Dribble is the best offensive squad in the Division averaging more than 75.7 ppg. On the other hand the Flying Squirrels are the best defensive team in the division giving up 44.1 ppg to the opposition.

Double Dribble is led by their GM Jimmy Huynh who is making his second appearance in the Division 2 championship game looking for his first championship. Jerry and Jesse Jimenez carry the scoring load for Double Dribble Jesse averages 16.0 ppg and 7.3 rpg. while Jerry averages 12.8 ppg with 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 apg. but the scoring doesn’t stop there. Hassan Ahmed puts in his 12.3 ppg and everyone else feeds off of those 3 guys, everyone on the Double Dribble squad gets on the scoreboard this is a pass first team and it shows they are a cohesive unit that plays so well together.

The Flying Squirrels are led by GM Ashwin Sharma who put together an amazing squad for an amazing run, last season the Squirrels missed the playoff now they are riding an 8 game win streak and one win away from cementing themselves in IBL history. The Squirrels are led by Aaron Sanchez and Trevor Sankey on the offensive end. Aaron averages 21.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg while Trevor puts in his 10.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg to assist Aaron. Both those guys were late additions to the team but the chemistry has been great like they’ve been there all season.

This game is gonna be close, no blowout victory for Double Dribble, look for the Squirrels to slow the game down and milk the clock.
