Do Work wins the Division 1 Championship

After 9 weeks of play the Division 1 championship match-up  set to square off as #3 Do Work (5-2) was matched up against #5 Primetime (4-3). The two teams played on Week #5 where Primetime put a hurting with a 14 point win 65 – 51. This time around the stakes were higher, the Division 1 championship was on the line and who knew which team would prevail.

#5 Primetime led by Troy Allen (25 points 11 rebounds), Mark Davison (10 points 12 rebounds) and Rashad Martin (12 points 7 rebounds). The 3 combined for 47 of the teams 54 points.  Primetime managed to keep the game close through the 4 quarters but could not stop Do Work in the paint.

#3 Do Work had the game under control even though they had a small lead through out the game. Kenneth Ubom (39 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assists) and Drake Walker (9 points, 8 rebounds) led the team in scoring; while Aaron Singleton was cleaning up the boards with a game high 11. Do Work managed to dictate the tempo of the game very early on. They forced Primetime to take contested 3 point attempts, the only time Primetime got a lay-up or an easy basket was on a fast break.  The two teams leading scorers Kenneth Ubom (Do Work) and Troy Allen (Primetime) were jawing at it all game with Ubom getting the last laugh and the trophy. Ubom was also named Finals MVP for the performance he put on.

Although Primetime lost the game this season was a huge success for these young men as their playoff run was nothing short of remarkable, from coming back from a 16 point deficit in the first round to dominating and  upsetting the defending champions Morningwood in the semi finals and letting their name be known in the D1 finals. Primetime is as much a threat as Do Work is next season.

Do Work just seemed as a perennial suitor for the championship form their début as they dominated most of their opponents on the defensive end, every player on their team knows their roll and they play well together, look for a potential repeat.
